Our bikes arrived today! Everything is in order. Of our 4 checked bags, 3 of them were searched =)

Today we went for a short hike. It was very muddy

The view at the top was nice

Good morning, Hawaii!

We have arrived, and our clothes arrived too, though our bikes are still in transit. A few other passengers were missing bags so hopefully it all arrives soon!

After filing our missing baggage claim and driving to our hotel, we made it in around midnight local time (5am eastern time). Luckily we were able to nap a little on the plane ☺

Home!

Hello, southwestern Ontario!

This is the view out our kitchen window. To be fair, the base of the window is not far from ground level. There is only about a foot of snow outside.

Welcome to Canada!

Made it to Niagara. Rained most of the way, thankfully it wasn't snow instead! Border crossing was via an intercom instead of a live person, which was interesting but perhaps sensical given that it was ~1:30am when we made it to the border.

Onwards to new adventures!

The Big Move: Step 1 Complete

We have arrived safely in Boston.

Update 12/19: Here is a recap of the day

Thursday's itinerary: Karen flies from Boston to Buffalo. Neil picks Karen up at the airport, and they drive back to Boston together.

This was the weather before I left Boston. No snow, or thoughts of snow, at all.  Usually, when I'm asked how the weather at home compares to Boston, I reply with "about the same". Sometimes, that is completely false.  This is the weather that Neil was contending with, while I was naively contemplating whether I should even wear snow boots.

The weather upon arrival in Buffalo.

An hour and a half later...

We stopped at the rest stop in Port Byron, NY. Had there been a hotel right there, we probably wouldn't have continued on. According to Neil however, the weather and visibility was still much better than the day before.

An 18-wheeler and a pickup truck were leaving the rest stop while we were contemplating leaving, so we joined their caravan. We followed that 18-wheeler (pictured below) for at least an hour, until the snow stopped and the road conditions improved. And we ended up making it all the way to Boston!
