Sapodilla

We saw these potato-like objects in the produce section of the grocery store last night and bought two of them without any idea of what to do with them. Do you eat it like an apple? Cook it like a potato?

With a little bit of research, we learned that you don't eat the skin or the black seed inside. When it is soft and ripe, the flesh is supposed to taste sugary, like maple candy.

When it is not ripe - as we learned this morning - it is mouth-puckering like an unripe pointy-bottomed persimmon :/ It tastes like it has the potential to be sweet like sugar cane...hopefully the second one will ripen in time for us to find out!
